Nike debuted a short film yesterday during the 54th Grammy Awards titled “Equality”. The short feature aims to spread awareness as to how sport can be used to represent positive values and of course equality.
The black and white film was shot in Cleveland and Nike has approached sports megastars LeBron James, Serena Williams, Kevin Durant for a feature as well as singer Alicia Keys who provides the backing track.
The film is narrated by actor Michael B. Jordan and the narration is as follows:
Is this the land history promised?
This field of play.
Where the dream of fairness and mutual respect lives on.
Where you are defined by actions, not your looks and beliefs.
For too long these ideals have taken refuge inside these lines.
Equality should have no boundaries.
The bond between players should exist between people.
Opportunity should be indiscriminate.
Worth should outshine color.
The ball should bounce the same for everyone.
If we can be equals here, we can be equals everywhere.
