The Washington Redskins Can’t Be Saved

Saying that there is a problem with the Washington Redskins is an understatement, as their malfunctions have defined them for years, starting with the refusal to change their offensive team name in the politically correct 20th century. Name absurdness aside, the team just can’t seem to get it right when it comes to being an actual NFL team and winning games. RG3 was supposed to change that, but inept coaching and a bad system ruined what was one of the big stars out of the same 2012 draft class as quarterbacks Andrew Luck, Ryan Tannehill and Russell Wilson. All of the QB’s mentioned are better than Griffin, with there being a huge drop off in talent from Russell Wilson. At one point Luck was considered to be in that elite status, but inept coaching on his end has caused for his similar downfall with the Indianapolis Colts- that’s a story for another day.

Other picks that have blossomed and made the #2 overall pick Griffin look like fools gold would be Luke Kuechly, Dontari Poe, Fletcher Cox, Chandler Jones, Dont’a Hightower, Kevin Zeitler and Harrison Smith. That’s a lot of players if you count the quarterback misses from in the QB category from Washington, a team that managed to pick 2 bad quarterbacks in the same draft. That level of ineptitude is unforgivable, and that isn’t even counting the choice to run one of the best coaches of all time in Mike Shanahan out of town. He literally took a leap from the sinking ship in his last year and has never looked back.

This year faithful fans have been treated to the Kirk Cousins story, a tragic Shakespearean play that involves having one of the best running backs in the league in Alfred Morris, one of the best possession receivers with Pierre Garcon, and one of the biggest deep threats and return men in DeSean Jackson yet unable to claim a conference that is a major disaster. The winner of the conference may not even be above .500 by the end of the year, and Washing will most likely still lose it. The team has talent, but they are not being managed properly by any of the staff. There was a time that massive team problems could be turned around with a good draft, but unfortunately in Washington’s case the only thing that will change the team around is new ownership.
