Lady Gaga Chosen as Billboard’s Woman of the Year

The superstar Queen of Pop and Mother Monster has been chosen by Billboard as this year’s Woman of the Year. Lady Gaga beat out competition including Taylor Swift and Madonna, who are each having very successful years themselves with new respective album launches and headlining tours. But Mother Monster, born Stefani Germanotta and who is 29 years old, has truly had a magical year in a diverse range of extremely successful accomplishments, showcasing her true all-around artistic ability and her one-of-a-kind creative talent.

Coming off of last fall’s 2014 release of “Cheek to Cheek,” the duet jazz album between Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, the two began the year promoting their collaborative work by launching a highly-successful world tour that included a four-night stretch of sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the birthplace and home of both artists.

In February, Stefani became engaged to boyfriend Taylor Kinney, an actor who is currently playing the role of Lieutenant Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. The two met on the set of the former’s music video for “Yoü and I” in 2011.

Furthermore, Lady Gaga received her sixth Grammy award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for “Cheek to Cheek.” She performed a musical tribute to “The Sound of Music” at this year’s Academy Awards, a performance that has been critically acclaimed as one of the best performances of all time. She continued performing with high-profile opportunities, including performing at the 2015 European Games. Lady Gaga was the star of a fashion campaign for Shiseido, was the most talked about at New York Fashion Week, and stole the show at this year’s Emmy’s as an award presenter. The talented Queen of Pop music also received the first ever Contemporary Icon Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame to honor her tremendous artistic ability and talent of songwriting as she writes each of her songs. She is also the star of this season’s American Horror Story: Hotel which begins airing in just a short weeks on October 7.

Last month, the icon and activist released a powerful, emotional single and accompanying music video for “Til It Happens To You,” a song written by Lady Gaga and Diane Warren for the film The Hunting Ground which investigates the issue of rape and sexual assault on college campuses. A portion of the proceeds from the single will benefit those affected by sexual assault to raise awareness for the global issue.

The songstress is also working on her next studio album to which she and her fans, her Little Monsters, have referred to as “LG5” with exciting anticipation growing with each moment.

Lady Gaga’s receiving of Billboard’s Woman of the Year award will be televised on Lifetime.
